Kunal was married to filmmaker Ramesh Sippy's daughter Sheena, a well known photographer the lady on the left. The couple have two children together, Shaira and Zahan. Kunal and Sheena are now divorced. Shaira was seen receiving guests on Sunday's funtion with her aunt Sanjana Kapoor and father Kunal Kapoor.

Shashi Kapoor's younger son, Karan was a well known model and actor in the early s. Karan Kapoor is best remembered for his role in 'Sultanat' which featured Juhi Chawla as his female lead. Karan later quit acting and is now an established photographer in London. He has two children. Sanjana was briefly married to filmmaker Aditya Bhattacharya, son of director Basu Bhattacharya.

The couple got divorced and Sanjana later married conservationist and wildlife photographer Valmik Thapar. Sanjana and Valmik Thapar have a son, Hamir. The teenager was also present with his parents during Sunday's ceremony.

He is best known for his work in the mainstream Hindi cinema. He started his career as a child artist at the age of four. He used to act in plays which were directed and produced by his father, Prithviraj Kapoor. It was not until the and that Shashi Kapoor came into the limelight. Apart from appearing in Hindi plays and mainstream cinema, he also appeared in many English movies.

He was awarded national award for his contribution to the Hindi film industry. However, on the same day, he was discharged. He was suffering from a kidney disease for quite a long time before his death.

He also had a sister, Urmila Sial Kapoor. In , he got married to his girlfriend Jennifer Kendal. His wife died in due to terminal colon cancer.
