Should i play oblivion without mods
Exploration was boring and monotonous, and oh hey, so was combat. Or you made the mistake of not leveling solely weapon and armour skills, so you have MORE trouble with critter-level goblins at level 40 than you did at level 1. People act all crazy about mods, and while I'd personally say that Morrowind still has loads of charm as it is, I don't see any reason not to use a couple graphical overhauls to make it look extra pretty.
So true. Morrowind still retains its original charm without any mod being needed. As for Oblivion, the only mods i can recommend are the ones that alter the gameplay. Also for Oblivion you might want to try Nehrim. A total conversion mod which is really well made. I think total conversions should probably wait until after he's at least played the original game.
I used a few mods on Oblivion to adjust things, without going "whole new game". Morrowind I use the FPS Optimizer to make it play nicely with x, giving it proper widescreen and gui scaling, but nothing that affects actual gameplay.
The weapon thing in Oblivion is purely thematical I'm playing a Khajiit stealth melee and felt hand to hand with touch magics fit better than using small weapons like daggers or short swords, but the weapons it adds are right in line with existing short swords and daggers statswise. Tried to do the same in Skyrim but alas, when I last checked it didn't exist. I'm still bummed about no hand to hand option there! Unless he means things like knuckledusters So it's still punching things, but technically there's a weapon involved.
Ooo, I'll have to check that out, thanks! It was bracers with stats on them to give your punches power comparable to a dagger or so, which seemed to fit for a Khajiit. Play enough to where you know how everything works in vanilla. Then mod the shit out of everything. The thing is, it will warn you when you turn them off when you reload the game. Heres a screenshot i took for ya. It varies on the mod.
Some require brand new games, particularly complete overhauls like Requiem for Skyrim, but most work whenever. Follow the instructions for each individual mod and you should be fine. That said, turning off mods midgame can cause some very batshit things to happen.
Some things may be mildly broken Couriers were naked thanks to a weird mod conflict on my last PC , others a bit more seriously couldn't enter a cavern the mod had changed. Again, it varies on the mod and the skill of the modder. A lot can be turned off without issue. It will destroy your save. What I've been doing in Skyrim is installing a mod on a clean save absolutely nothing active when I saved, though you can activate as many mods as you want while loading it , stress testing it works generally, a marathon around Skyrim, then a quick cell change blitz in Whiterun entering then leaving every building in the town tells me if there's a major crashing issue with the mod , then find out if I like it.
If I don't, it's deleted then. Many more enemies and bosses, quests to explore, treasures to find What was Bethesda thinking? They go to all the trouble to create the illusion of an open world and then they destroy it with on-screen messages. So I use some mods yes. I played for a long time on the Console vanilla style, but after a year, and having done everything. I decided it was best to venture into the world of Mods.
Never looked back, my game looks and plays so much better; it's made my favourite game of all time, perfect. I've still yet to try complete overhauls like FCOM, but I have experienced a lot of mods, from new locations to graphic enhancers; and there are a few that I have grown to not be able to play without. I just love that there is so much variety, you can almost do anything. Natural Rings Limit I have more than 2 fingers.
After all, how hard is it to cut a sleeping person's throat!? Even if I had PC I wouldn't mod. Truly, I tried it with Morrowind, but I continuously went back to vanilla. As far as gameplay and new content go: try it for a while first, decide what you can't stand, then mod it and start over. Oblivion is a deeply flawed game but it's best to get a feel yourself for what your own issues are going to be with it and how you'd like to fix them.
Oblivion is one of those games I personally consider not worth playing unmodded but it's important to form your own opinion. Graphics are pretty harmless to start modding straight away if they aren't to your liking.
As far as the engine and bugs, the game is a dumpster fire. Read what things do, why is suggests the fixes it does, and change what the guide suggests you tweak. Thank you all for replying ill be sure to mod the game, ill play it for a while unmodded and then i'll start modding it.
Also should I use MO1 for Oblivion? If you want to manage those separately and install them directly to the actual real Data folder, you can still use MO if you're familiar with it
